Children From Orphan’s Joy in Belize Receive Computers from Vanco

BLOOMINGTON, MINN - We’d like to introduce you to Orphan’s Joy. An orphanage and non-profit we’ve worked with several times due to their amazing impact on children around the world. Orphans Joy

The non-profit was formed in 2008 with the goal to help orphans who live outside of the United States in the name of Jesus.

Orphan’s Joy first began their work with children as board members visited Kenya and met with several caregivers. Since then, they’ve traveled and met with people in the US and abroad and helped to further the work of various organizations. Members of the board have seen orphan needs as they visited and developed a special interest in child safety and getting children into families.

Here at Vanco, we’re always working to stay true to our mission: “Serving those who enrich our communities” with a goal to serve our local, national and global community in meaningful ways. Orphan’s Joy is very meaningful to us, and we are proud to help them further their mission.

Recently, we donated 36 computers to the non-profit. This is the fifth time we’ve worked with them, giving them our retired computers that are in very good condition to go to children around the world.

Board Chair Todd Rasmuson told us “With pandemic concerns lessening, travel opportunities for us at Orphan’s Joy are increasing.  Besides Belize, we hope to get to East Africa and Haiti this coming year.  Additionally, we have offered some computers to friends in India for a training center for children in tribal areas. Your computers will be traveling to bless many.”

In the above photo, we can see kids in Belize using previous computers we’ve donated.

Speaking of the photo, Rasmuson says “The picture below shows children in Belize using your previous computers given to us.  My son and daughter-in-law were helping them with some educational software, and they loved it!  The biggest challenge was sharing the computer with another child, so hopefully, with more computers, there will be fewer incidents for conflict resolution!”
